Fun fall activities in Indy

October is time for apple-picking, pumpkin carving and spooky Halloween fun. Enjoy fall traditions at these greater-Indianapolis locations within a 30-minute drive from campus:

Pumpkin patches and apple orchards:

Adrian Orchard

Where: 500 W Epler Ave. in Indianapolis
Drive time from campus: 15 min.
Hours: Open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Known as the “Orchard Nearest to the Heart of Indianapolis,” Adrian Orchard offers all the delicious apples, fresh apple cider and a pumpkin patch.

Anderson Orchard

Where: 369 E. Greencastle Road in Mooresville
Drive time from campus: 29 min.
Hours: Open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to dark

Pick your own apples from the orchard and pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. Apple cider and more is also sold in the apple barn.

Hogan Farms

Where: 8900 E. County Road 1000N in Brownsburg
Drive time from campus: 28 min.
Hours: Open Tuesday through Thursday 2 to 6 p.m., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to the U-pick pumpkin patch, enjoy the corn maze, hay rides and more. Hogan farms is also pet-friendly.

Pleasant View Orchards

Where: 10721 N. 850 W. in Fairland
Drive time from campus: 28 min.
Hours: Open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pick your own apples, visit the pumpkin patch or take a wagon ride at Pleasant View Orchards. On the weekends, enjoy homemade treats like hot apple cobbler a-la-mode and fried biscuits with apple butter.

Waterman’s Family Farm - Indianapolis

Where: 7010 E. Raymond St. in Indianapolis
Drive time from campus: 21 min.
Hours: Open seven days a week, hours vary

Pick a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch, enjoy hayrides, check out the pumpkin-chomping dinosaur and more. Admission is free on Mondays and Tuesdays, but costs $12 Wednesday through Friday and $15 on the weekends.
