Wallace to serve as acting dean of School of Engineering and Technology

Professor Joseph Wallace has accepted the position of acting dean of the School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI, Interim Chancellor Andrew Klein has announced.
Wallace joined the School of Engineering and Technology in 2010 and also has an appointment in the School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
“Professor Wallace has demonstrated a history of excellence in research, teaching and professional service, as well as a record of outstanding and inclusive leadership within the school, that make him a natural fit for this position,” Klein said.
Wallace will help the School of Engineering and Technology implement changes in advance of the 2024 realignment of Indiana University and Purdue University programs on the Indianapolis campus.
“Professor Wallace’s leadership comes at a crucial time,” Klein said. “I speak on behalf of the campus administration in expressing our unwavering confidence in him and his ability to help the school navigate the 2024 transition with the academic strength, research productivity, and focus on student success that have been mainstays of all of our Engineering and Technology programs for many years.”
Wallace’s appointment as acting dean is effective July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, and he will maintain his responsibilities as chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
He will take over for David Russomanno, who has accepted an executive position at the University of Memphis.
